It’s very trendy right now for photographers to gush about how much they’re missing wedding season. My Instagram feed is loaded with throwback images from last year’s celebrations with wispy captions about the magic of wedding season and wishing to return to it ASAP. They’re lying. We are all hunkered down in wool socks, catching up on all the shows we missed when the only screen was saw was the one for editing, eating chili and doing deep morning stretches. Of course, business is still happening, it just looks different December – March. It’s less urgent, less chaotic, more “deep cleaning” than maintenance mode.
But the brilliance and joy of wedding season is that it’s temporary. You have to enjoy it when it’s here and appreciate the quiet rhythms when it’s not. You hustle hard for 2/3 of the year, wonder were weddings this hot last year?, think you might not make it through October and then here you are, huddled at home like Frog and Toad, catching up on last year’s weddings to share with the world. And that’s what I have for you today – a lovely mid-Autumn wedding at Dulany’s Overlook where Korynne and Josh were married under an electric blue sky with wide smiles and happy tears.
I’ll be here in low-grade hibernation, enjoying the off-season until it’s time to go again. I’ll be ready when it does.
I am almost fully-booked for 2025! If you’re looking for a photographer who also makes a bang-up chocolate chip cookie, I’d love to hear from you. I have a few 2025 weekends available and 2026 is ready and waiting. Let’s go!
Second shot for Amanda Summers!
