I’ve got two more weddings to go and then that’s a wrap on the 2024 season – but first! – a cheerful and romantic engagement session in Harpers Ferry, WV featuring Samie + Patrick! They’re gettin’ hitched next summer at Dulany’s Overlook and this was such a great warm up to the big day. They picked Harpers Ferry for its gorgeous view and historic charm, but we also got a free glute workout on account of the 18 sets of stairs we walked up to get back to the car. Photography! It’s why I work out!

Of course, we had some disagreements. Samie thinks Pat is more photogenic but they’re actually both gorgeous all the way through. Pat thought he might be able to pet one of the overly-friendly deer that line the walkways of Harpers Ferry at dusk and I assured him that was a gamble. We had so much fun making our way around the town, ducking park rangers so we could spray a happy bottle of champagne all around even though I’m not convinced they wouldn’t have toasted right alongside us.

(Of course, I had to cash in on some inside intel from these two because they’re both physical therapists. I asked the question every wedding photographer needs to know – what are the best all-day shoes to wear when working? Samie says you don’t have to wear lunch lady shoes as long as you’ve got good arch support. Now you know.)
