I’m just thrilled to share Genevieve and Cade’s summer wedding at the Irvine Chapel at Mercersburg Academy with you today! It’s been a while since I photographed a wedding here, and it turns out that clean stone backdrop of a timeless Gothic-style chapel never gets old.

Genevieve and her girls got ready for the day at The Inn at Historic Lane House in downtown Mercersburg. It was a hidden gem in downtown Mercersburg with the thermal pool tucked into the backyard, colonial paint colors, and Federal architecture. I tell you what – it was hot-hot-hot for this one, and that pool started lookin’ reeeeeal nice after getting ready portraits! The best part was Genevieve’s Mom watching her daughter get ready for the day – she grew up in Mercersburg and said it was especially sweet to see Genevieve get married in her hometown.

The Irvine Chapel is an absolute stunner on the Mercersburg Academy campus! Stained glass window, soaring ceilings, and acoustics that’ll make you cry, it was such a treat to photograph this classically beautiful ceremony. Genevieve’s friend sang for the ceremony and it was such a treat to hear it….and also a stark reminder that I have many talents and singing is not one of them.

And if I can play favorites here – the happy-clappy church bubble exit followed by a decked out getaway car (a VW Bug!) is at the top of my most-fun-to-shoot moments of the day. The cheering, the bubbles, the sunshine, that just-married feeling came together for some of my favorite images of the day. We had some clouds creep in during our sunset portrait time, but we didn’t let that slow us down for a second.

What a treat to be there to document such a special day!
