Hello and welcome to the start of Epic Fall Wedding Season! I’ve got a gorgeous spring wedding at Bluebird Manor in Adamstown, MD to share with you. I’ve been in the thick of engagement sessions for 2025 brides, spending my evenings on Zoom with future clients, and shooting/editing autumn weddings. I also have all four kiddos playing softball and baseball, so I write to you now from my bougie camping chair (dual pockets! it rocks back and forth!) while the non-practicing kiddos eat pizza from the back of the truck. This season has been chaotic, but we’re having fun and I’m determined to make the most of it.

One of the most common questions I get when chatting with new brides is, “What happens if it rains?” Well – everything still happens when it rains! It’s really rare to remove anything from the schedule completely because of bad weather. First and foremost – you need a Plan B. Make sure your venue has a great indoor option for your ceremony (Bluebird Manor’s Wedding Chapel is perfect for this!) and we can get a little creative with everything else. I just need a few windows or a covered porch to make the magic! I also bring several clear bubble umbrellas with me if there’s even a small chance of rain in the forecast so we can still take portraits outside. Most importantly, your ability to stay cheerful and have fun no matter the weather will be the biggest factor in how much you enjoy a rainy day! Remember that you’ll never wear the dress again (it’s OK if it gets dirty), and stay flexible!

David and Hope are a perfect example of Keeping Good Cheer on a Rainy Wedding Day. It rained all day long, in various stages of downpour, for their May wedding at Bluebird Manor and they smiled the whole way through. Having such a happy couple makes my job so much easier – these two were down for any location, umbrella in hand – and looks how incredible this day turned out! Their barn reception was so cozy and warm, I loved the lush florals and burnt orange accents.
