I’ve got new portraits for you today – let’s head to downtown Frederick for this gorgeous family session. But first! It’s my birthday today, but I wasn’t served breakfast in bed. No, instead my three-year-old kicked open my bedroom door at 6:00 AM shouting out, “WHERE IS THE CAKE?” I get it. I established this household as a Cake For Breakfast House many years ago, taking breaks only at Thanksgiving to make it Pie For Breakfast instead. But the sight of all those rainbow jimmies on top of a swoosh of buttercream means it’s time to celebrate so I found myself slicing chocolate fudge cake before the sun was up.

I say we continue the celebrations with one of my favorite families and their newest addition! Because really, I cannot think of a single thing in this life sweeter than a newborn. I photographed Beth and Kyle’s Frederick engagement session a few years ago, then their wedding in Towson at the Mansion at Valley Country Club, and now – how lucky am I? – their growing family all together. *feeling a little verklempt*
